St Johns School Mead’s Christmas Fair – Hopkins saved sponsorship 2016
Always happy to help our community.
“This weekend , I have to give a huge thank you to James Hopkins at Hopkins Estate Agents. I needed a small miracle when our annual sponsor pulled out of the Christmas Fair at my son’s school at the last minute. It’s a small one form entry school and so raising funds is often very hard. As Chair of the PTA this year, it fell on my shoulders to secure sponsorship and put the fair together with a small team of wonderful helpers. To lose £250.00 of sponsorship before the event had even happened was not the best start! So I sent out an appeal for a sponsor, knowing that time was absolutely against making a deal! You know the gig, the Estate Agents put their boards up outside houses advertising the fair, the Estate Agents get their name outside lots of houses, we get free advertising for the event, and a cash sum to inverts in the fair.
Well with just over a week to the fair, I sent out my plea, expecting nothing, but hoping for anyone who could help. Then I received a call from Mr Hopkins, saying he had heard I was in need of a sponsor, and he would be happy to help. I explained that I had 25 names of wonderful people who would have the boards. James , called the board company, who could only get 10 up in the weeks slot, and really they would only be up for three days before the fair. I was dreading that he would tell me that it would not be worth his time and money and so he would not be able to honor the proposal, but to my delight, his reply was the opposite, he assured me that it was no problem at all, investing in a child’s future, in anyway was payment enough for the sponsorship money. I wanted to share this fantastic sentiment, and applaud, this very kind gesture. Hopkins an independent agent, weren’t looking for any recognition, he had no connection to the school whatsoever, but that makes me want to give some recognition to him even more!!
At the other end of the scale, when approached for a small voucher for a raffle prize, the owner of new business in the town replied, “Oh God, I’m so over charity!!!!” 😡😡😡 Ummmm they have been in business less than a year, small town, ouch!
I would love to spread the message, it’s important to support your local charities, your schools ,and local clubs. Investing in children can only ever be a great thing. SO THANK YOU JAMES HOPKINS hero status for you this weekend, please give Hopkins a like and share, maybe it will encourage other businesses to support local charity’s and invest in the next generation. ❤️ Thank you in anticipation that you will x x”
